I have been neglecting my poor little blog horribly! How awful of me.
My life has been pretty crazy for the past couple of weeks. I have, however, gotten a lot of knitting done.
Somehow, I decided to knit christmas presents for a lot of my family. I wasn't going to, but within the space of like 45 minutes one day, I decided to make slippers for my mom, a hat and hackey sack for my little brother and either a hat or slippers for my dad. Yeah...Don't know how I came to that conclusion. Oh yeah, that's on top of the scarf and hat set for my little 1 year old cousin and the hat for her 8 year old brother my mom wanted me to make.
I finished three hats last week, two for presents and one for my boyfriend, Ken. He saw me knitting the one for my brother and liked it, so I made him one. My brother's hat and Ken's hat are both from the Hot Hedd pattern in Stitch 'n Bitch. They're both done in Cascade 128...the bulky wool. Joe's is olive drab and Ken's is olive drab on the bottom with a buttery yellow on top. They both turned out really well. The third hat was a modification of the two hour hat pattern. I made it smaller to fit my little 8 yr old cousin's head. It was done up on LionBrand Thick 'n Quick Wool Ease that is a marled blue...dark and light. I really like it.
I also got the scarf for the 1 year old cousin done. Its way cute, done up in a Hobby Lobby brand knock off of Bernat Boa in cream, yellow, pink and purple held together with cream Caron Simply Soft. I'm going to make the hat out of Bernat DenimStyle in purpley tweedy color with the feathery stuff along about 2 inches at the bottom. Yay!
I took a DPN class yesterday! I was having a hell of a time getting started on double points, so I broke down and took the class at my LYS. Now I have a good handle on the needles, and am ready to get going on slippers and more hats. Yay!
So yeah...In clase you haven't noticed, I've had kind of a week-long yarngasm. Here's everything I bought:
2 LionBrand Pounds of Love in antique white for the cabled baby blanket
1 skein Thick and Quick Wool Ease for the 2 hr hat
2 skeins Cascade 128 bulky for hats
1 skein Cascade 220 for Mom's slippers
1 skein Baby Alpaca Brush in periwinkle blue (holy god is this luscious yarn! EVERYONE needs some) for a hat for myself
2 skeins feathery yarn from Hobby Lobby for the little scarf
2 skeins LionBrand Jiffy for assorted hats
14(!) skeins Caron Simply Soft on sale at Hobby Lobby for $.77/skein (now that's a deal you can't beat with a stick)
1 set 10 1/2 DPN's
1 Susan Bates 29" circ size 17 (not crazy about them, but they were the size I needed)
1 Addi turbo 24" circ size 9
1 Addi Turbo 24" circ size 8
Yeah yarngasm!
I'll have pictures of everything very soon! My mom's out of town this weekend with the camera.
On a side note, my boyfriend was so cute when I gave him his hat. He took it to work and was all like 'Look at what my girlfriend made for me' And he was showing off the label and everything. He was so excited about his hat, that I'll have to make him another.
That's all I've got for now! Until next time, Knitters!
